THERE'S A TIGER IN THE GARDEN

DIRECTOR/WRITER
With my company Flock Theatre (with Freya Wynn-Jones) we have created a number of family shows including the world premiere of Lizzy Stewart's prize winning book There's A Tiger in the Garden for young audiences.

Booking for 2025

A new theatrical adaptation of Lizzy Stewart’s Waterstones Children’s Book Prize winning book for family audiences.

Age range 3 –103.

Our 2023 theatre tour visited:

  • Jackson’s Lane (London) / Applecart Arts (London) / Half Moon Theatre (London), Attenborough Arts Centre (Leicester) / Blackfriars Priory (Gloucester) / Brewhouse Arts Centre / Cambridge Junction / Easton Community Centre / Grand Junction (London) / Komedia (Brighton) / Royal Opera House (London) / Taunton Brewhouse / Tobacco Factory (Bristol)

Bored at home with nothing to do, Nora is sent out to play in the garden in search of a tiger. Have your imaginations at the ready as our story unfolds and we see Nora’s world grow around her.

Following sold out tours in 2021/2022 and a hugely succesful regional tour in 2023, this theatrical adaptation of Lizzy Stewart’s prize winning book continues to delight more families.

For family audiences aged 0 –103, this new piece of music theatre brings Nora’s story to young audiences across the country. Using puppetry, imaginative design and music – audiences are invited to join Nora as she discovers dragonflies as big as her head, plants that can eat you (and your toy giraffe) whole, a polar bear that likes fishing and maybe, just possibly, a tiger in the garden.

My kids were mesmerised by the puppets and songs and I found it quite emotional going to see live theatre again.

Using puppetry, imaginative design and music – audiences join Nora as she discovers dragonflies as big as her head, plants that can eat you (and your toy giraffe) whole, a polar bear that likes fishing and maybe, just possibly, a tiger in the garden. It was the first time the book was presented as a live performance.

Emma Higham, as writer/director has done a superb job, creating a fast-paced, slick draws you into the world of the book and shows everything from Nora’s perspective. The design by Laura McEwen is bold, brash and lively, creating memorable images to enchant the young audience.
